General Questions

What is ExpireQR?

ExpireQR is a service that allows you to create temporary QR codes that automatically expire after a set time period. These QR codes can be used for various purposes such as time-limited access, one-time use links, event tickets, and more.

How do I create a temporary QR code?

To create a temporary QR code, simply enter the URL you want the QR code to link to, select when you want it to expire, and click the "Generate QR Code" button. After that, you can download or share your QR code.

Is ExpireQR free to use?

Yes, ExpireQR is currently free to use for basic QR code generation with time limits. We may introduce premium features in the future, but our core functionality will remain free.

QR Code Creation

What types of URLs can I use?

You can use any valid HTTPS URL. For security reasons, we don't support:

  • HTTP (non-secure) URLs
  • Local network addresses
  • File system URLs
  • Localhost URLs

What expiration options are available?

We offer several preset options:

  • 10 minutes
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • 6 hours
  • 1 day
  • 7 days
  • Custom date and time
  • Never (permanent)

Technical Questions

How secure are the QR codes?

Our QR codes use secure, random identifiers and are served over HTTPS. The expiration is enforced server-side, ensuring that expired codes cannot be reactivated.

What happens when a QR code expires?

When a QR code expires, anyone who scans it will be directed to an expiration page instead of the original URL. This ensures that the link is no longer accessible after your specified expiration time.

Can I extend the expiration of my QR code?

Currently, QR code expiration dates cannot be modified once they are created. If you need a QR code with a longer expiration time, you'll need to create a new one.

Are there any limits to how many QR codes I can create?

To prevent abuse, we have implemented rate limiting. You can create a reasonable number of QR codes within a given time period.

Troubleshooting

Why isn't my QR code working?

Common reasons include:

  • The QR code has expired
  • The target URL is no longer accessible
  • Poor lighting or camera conditions when scanning
  • The QR code image is damaged or too small

How can I ensure the best scanning experience?

For optimal scanning:

  • Download the QR code in high quality
  • Ensure adequate lighting when scanning
  • Keep the QR code clean and undamaged
  • Maintain appropriate scanning distance
